The gaming lords giveth, and the gaming lords…they taketh away.
Somewhere on this blue planet of our sits a soul, still waiting patiently for the PlayStation Plus edition of DriveClub, the pretty darn good now PlayStation 4 exclusive racing game from Evolution studios.
It was promised, originally, to be a launch title for the PlayStation Four, though was delayed until October last year. The PlayStation Plus version would give gamers a sizeable chunk of the game, its garage of cars and its selection of tracks gratis, allowing said players to pick up the full game thereafter for a reduced price.
The game proper was hit with some of the most egregious of issues when it was released; server woes that prevented the online, socially connected racer from being either social or online. Those issues have delayed the free edition for what seems like an eternity. Well, yesterday, the PlayStation Plus edition of DriveClub showed up on the PlayStation store. Yes, it’s real. And yes, it was available for download.
Was.
It’s been pulled from the store. Why? Please, no giggles. The servers weren’t ready.
“The Store update today with the DRIVECLUB PS+ Edition was premature. The servers aren’t ready yet, so it’s been removed while we get them ready. Apologies on their behalf for any confusion and inconvenience caused.” say Evolution studios on Facebook.
Here’s what you’ll get from the PS plus edition when it does finally come out, presumably in July. Of 2018.
DRIVECLUB™ PlayStation®Plus Edition includes:
- Every DRIVECLUB™ feature: from online multiplayer matches and challenges, to offline solo racing, Tour events, customisation, replays, Photo Mode and more.
- The option to create your own races with full control over the time of day and the weather.\
- Access to all 13 tracks in India, one of six locations in DRIVECLUB™.
- 15 cars for your garage.
- A full set of 27 PlayStation® trophies, including the precious Platinum.
And that poor, solitary human is still sitting, waiting for DriveClub’s PlayStation Plus edition.

Watch the servers be ready just in time for Gamescom…… Anyway, you don’t really still believe these guys when they mention servers do you? LOL! Maybe they’re waiting for the server kickstarter to reach it’s goal? ????????????

No, I don’t believe them. I’ve already stated numerous times that I’m not buying the game. I’ll get the free version and go from there.
