To many people right now, Grant Gustin is Barry Allen aka the Flash. Yes, there’s a new movie version of the character coming out but it’s Gustin’s TV version is undoubtedly the most beloved right now. That means movie Flash, Ezra Miller, already has an uphill battle ahead of him way before his movie is even released. And he’s not the only one as many of the major characters from the Flash’s world will undoubtedly overlap between TV series and movie.

And while we don’t this for sure, one of those prominent characters will more than likely be Iris West, Barry’s erstwhile love interest from both the original comics and the TV series. Said TV series sees Candice Patton in the role, but what about her movie counterpart? Well, it looks like it’s probably going to be one of these three young ladies, as reports are coming in that Kiersey Clemons (Dope, Bad Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising), Lucy Boynton (Sing Street) and pop singer turned actress Rita Ora (50 Shades of Grey).

Variety was first to report on Clemons being eyed for the film’s female lead, while THR’s Borys Kit took to Twitter to Boynton and Ora’s names into the mix as well. At this point though, it’s believed that Clemons is the definite front-runner for the female lead role, having starred in The Flash director Rick Famuyiwa’s breakout movie Dope. And like I said above, while there’s no actual confirmation that the role is indeed that of Iris West, it has to be noted that all three young actresses definitely fit the profile for the character.

Following his cameo appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ezra Miller’s Flash is next set to appear in director Zack Snyder’s Justice League alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Henry Cavill’s Superman in November 2017. He will then get his own solo movie, which received a first treatment from Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street) who also act as producers. There’s currently now release date set for the solo The Flash movie, but production should be getting underway pretty soon.
