I’ve got a confession to make: I haven’t exactly seen the previous Mission Impossible film, Ghost Protocol. That’s primarily due to the fact that I had a severe distaste for the franchise after Mission Impossible III, easily the weakest film in the series when compared to the stellar first 1996 flick and the actiongasm that was the sequel.
Apparently I’m an even bigger idiot than usual however, because not only was Ghost Protocol actually damn good, but it was a perfect setup for the latest flick, Rogue Nation. Especially if that fifth film lives up to the trailer hype:
Ethan and team take on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the Syndicate – an International rogue organization as highly skilled as they are, committed to destroying the IMF.
Well hot damn. I’m a sucker for stupidly dangerous stunts, and seeing Tom Cruise dangle on the side of an airplane makes this a rather tempting flick for me to go see. Once I’ve caught up on M:I 4 that is.
Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation stars Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames,Jeremy Renner, Sean Harris,Simon McBurney, and Alec Baldwin. Christopher McQuarrie directs for a July 31 release.

Before you all start (justifiably) ripping into Darryn for thinking that the slow-mo cheese fest that is MI2 is somehow superior to MI3, I feel that it is my duty to point out that he is a loon who spent most of his childhood sniffing paint thinners. He also lives in PE. Please forgive him.
