The first teaser trailer for Beasts of No Nation was a study in absolute nerve-shredding tension. A new trailer for Netflix’s first full-length feature film has just dropped and it is most definitely not letting up on all those emotions. Written and directed by Emmy Award winner Cary Fukunaga (True Detective, Jane Eyre), Beasts has already been drawing massive critical acclaim (it’s sitting on 91% on RottenTomatoes) and after watching this powerful new preview it’s very easy to see why as it offers some seriously haunting imagery.
Check it out below.
Beasts of No Nation is based on the highly-acclaimed novel by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala, bringing to life the gripping tale of Agu, a child soldier torn from his family to fight in the civil war of an African country. Newcomer Abraham Attah gives a stunning portrayal of Agu, while Elba dominates the screen in the role of Commandant, a warlord who takes in Agu and instructs him in the ways of war.
Beasts of No Nation releases this coming Friday on all Netflix regions, while also getting a simultaneous limited theatrical release. It’s currently not listed for a local theatrical release, but expect that to change when this becomes an awards contender, which it currently seems poised to do.
