For everyone that enjoyed the first Safe House film, there is a bit of news that is sure to excite you: A sequel is definitely in the works and David Gutterheim, who penned the first film, was once again hired to work on a new one.
Its not really surprising that they want to make another one, as the first one made $202 million worldwide and while not nearly as much as some of the other blockbusters of this year, its definitely not to be scoffed at. The first film saw Ryan Reynolds play a CIA agent who is tasked with maintaining a safe house in South Africa who becomes caught up in a cat-and-mouse game with Denzel Washington’s rogue agent.

WARNING! SPOILER AHEAD!
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET MORE EXPERIENCE BY STARING AT FOUR SPOILERS ALL DAY?
I’M NOT YOUR ONLY SPOILER TONIGHT.
REMEMBER RULE NUMBER ONE: YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR SPOILER. I’M YOUR SPOILER.
We’ll jump right into it – Denzel’s Washington’s character, Tobin Frost, dies at the end of the first film. This leaves a gaping whole where a bad guy should be and leaves us with a few questions as to the direction the next film might take. Will it still be in Cape Town? Will they bring in a new bad guy? Could it perhaps be a prequel, with Denzel Washington reprising his role?
We’ll just have to wait and see, but most of us are just happy being able to picture Hollywood stars running around Long Street in Cape Town. It’s the little things.
