When it came to magician-heist actioner Now You See Me, the biggest magic trick it pulled off, in my opinion, was making $351 million at the box office. Sure it was flashy and entertaining in places, but it completely underutlized its stellar cast and tried to be too clever for its own good with nudge-nudge, wink-wink plot twists stretching plausibility to breaking point. But I guess that $351 million is still $351 million, so of course we got a sequel!

And the first trailer for that sequel dropped online last night, and I must admit that I’m kind of a little intrigued. Sure it looks like the same smoke and mirrors from the first film, just blown up on an even bigger scale now, but there’s a very magical new addition to the cast that has me very hopeful will help this sequel to step up its game a bit.

HARRY POTTER! Oh, sorry, I mean DANIEL RADCLIFFE! WHOO HOO! In case you’re wondering, Radcliffe plays the son of Michael Caine’s Arthur Tessler, the main bad guy from the first film, who is looking for some revenge on the Four Horsemen for his father’s imprisonment.

And no, you’re not going crazy, that is indeed Lizzy Caplan you’re seeing in that trailer as she’s filling the obligatory female lead role, as Isla Fisher was unable to reprise her role due to her being pregnant at the time of shooting.

The other new newcomer to this franchise is actually not seen on camera but rather sits behind it, as Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) is now replacing Louis Letterier as the director. Now You See Me 2 – or as it’s subtitled in some places, Now You See Me: The Second Act – also stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine. It is scheduled for release on June 1, 2016.
