Just about everything has an app nowadays. Even movies. And while most of them are about as essential or useful as man-nipples, sometimes a few of them actually yield results.
Case in point, the iOS tie-in app for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey which revealed a whole host of new images over the weekend, giving us some better looks at Bilbo’s dwarven companions, another look at that Elven glamrock king, as well as a new version of that super-massive banner released a short while back, that may just be revealing some interesting plot point reshuffling as a result of the recently revealed trilogy plans.
BleedingCool was actually the first to spot that the banner has now changed, with a new scene appended to the end of it. For those of you familiar with the book, you’d know that in this scene Bilbo, Gandalf and his vertically challenged buddies hide out in some trees from a pack a ravenous wolves, until they try to fight back with some fire. This looks like it could be the new split point from which the recently announced Desolation of Smaug would pick up. Well, at least that’s the theory, but it sure does sound like a good one.
You can get the individual scenes that make up the banner, including the new one, in the gallery below along with possibly the best shots to date of Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, Aidan Turner as Kili and Lee Pace as Elvenking Thranduil, the daddy of everybody’s favourite androgynous elf, Legolas.
