Tina Fey is already fighting against the Force as her latest comedy Sisters does battle with Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the box office, but apparently she needed an even bigger challenge and decided to take on the war in Afghanistan.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot – previously known by the even more brilliant title Taliban Shuffle – is based on the war-time memoirs former Chicago Tribune reporter Kim Barker, and sees Fey as Barker as she gets up to all kinds of shenanigans when she takes an assignment to Kabul as a means of getting her out of her mid-life slump.
The first trailer for the film dropped recently and shows that directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love) seemsto be striving for a fine balance between the fish out of water hysterics that the incredible Fey does so well, and the culture shock human drama of this war-torn region. And it looks like they pull it off quite well, thanks in no part to a fantastic support cast in Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton and Alfred Molina.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot was penned by Fey’s longtime writing collaborator Robert Carlock, and is scheduled for release on March 4, 2016.
