We talk Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare at Gamescom

2 min read

The very first thing I did at Gamescom was get some hands on time with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. It was a bit confusing, because it felt and played like the traditional COD, but it felt completely different at the same time.

The futuristic setting opens up some avenues for new gameplay aspects, which I really feel will mix the game experience up enough to draw in new and old fans alike. The Exoskeleton is loads of fun to play with. It offers some nice swift movement as well as adds a whole new level of verticality. The new tech and weaponry also adds a whole lot of variety for players to customise their play styles and such.

I had a chat with Greg Reisdorf, the lead multiplayer designer for Sledghammer Games and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. We talk about the futuristic setting, eSport, as well as how simple the new movement of the Exoskeleton is to pick up.

My interview capabilities were pretty much null at this point, so please excuse me stumbling over my first few questions. To keep you distracted, I’ve included a montage of my terrible controller skills. The capture software I was using cut everything up into 10 second segments for some reason. Still, you get to watch me land good few spray-and-pray headshots as well as marvel at my (lack of) skill!

What do you think? Are you still bitter about the last few Call of Duty entries, or will you be picking this up for sure?

I wonder where ol’ foxhoundr is with some BESTEST comments…

      • Admiral Chief Assassin

We’d better ask ol’ Jimmy once he recovers

        • Shame, I heard he’s a little yellow under the gills? Or was that brown? 🙂

    • Hammersteyn

Yeah, he was awesome. He sure would make you and Rices job a bit more interesting

I think Martha needs to stick to MOBA and leave the FPS to others.

I Feel sorry for Game Developers of FPS. Like with CoD and Battlefield. They try their utmost to make it a awesome new experience but then the comminty just goes and fucks it up but making servers of Small cramped maps to Boost Kills to get the Xp and thats it. Battlefield 3 a perfect example, all those awesome maps and vechiles and all the ppl play is fucking Metro 24/7, I fear same will happen to Advance Warfare. They gonna put in all this cool stuff. but I tell u now.. every1 will play traditional Mode after a week.

If it has league in it then I don’t think so. I’m still playing BO2 on the PS3 and usually league which is SnD, Capture the flag and domination. Personally I think the one failing of Ghosts was no league system so I agree then, everyone went to TDM and nothing else. I struggle to find different game modes for Ghosts on the PS4

      • Sk3tz0

Not every one is Good enough to Be League material.. or have the time to play league matches.

        • Guild

With BO2 ranking system, there should have been similar ranked people playing together. So I think everyone should try out the league a couple of times and see if its for them. I found it a lot of fun and it did make me more competitive.
Although the downside I have encountered, is the overly obnoxious, kiddie-swearing, try-hards who scream into the mic “You f**** suck” then proceed to rage quite so as to not harm their precious k/d.
