Borderlands 2’s Mechromancer’s coming early

Gaige, the giant robot summoning new class for the rather excellent Borderlands 2 is coming as free DLC for folks who pre-ordered the role playing shooter, and as paid DLC to those who didn’t. Gearbox originally announced her to become playable on October 16. Seems she’s coming a little earlier than that.

“So – here’s the surprise, Mechromancer for Borderlands 2 is ready about a week earlier than I promised. October 9, all platforms,” Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford said on Twitter.

“Should be available for download on all platforms by the end of the day,” he added.

If you’re as excited as I am to shoot things by not aiming at them with the infamous “girlfriend mode” skill tree, you can do so here – as Gearbox has a virtual one for you to tinker with.

Here’s some backstory, via her Echo logs.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
