Vampyr

We know very little about Vampyr, the new Vampire RPG from Remember Me and Life is Strange developer Dontnod. What we do know, is that it’s really about time we got a new RPG about vampires. The last memorable one, Vampire The Masquerades: Bloodlines was excellent – but came out in 2004.

It’s time. Could Vampyr be the game those of us who live the Vampiric myths have been waiting for? These new screenshots certainly suggest as much.

“Vampyr is set in early 20th century Britain as the country is gripped by the lethal Spanish flu and the streets of London are crippled by disease, violence and fear. In a disorganized and ghostly city, those foolish, desperate, or unlucky enough to walk the streets lay prey to Britain’s most elusive predators: the vampires. Emerging “

It’ a game in which you’ll have to feed, but who you choose to feed on may have consequences for the rest of the in-game universe as you play.

“Be careful who you choose to hunt, as they will be gone forever, and their death will impact in a meaningful way the world that surrounds you. Feeding on human blood will not just keep you ‘alive’; it will also unlock new vampiric powers to use”

It’s a game that, so far, seems like it really focuses on Vampires as predators, instead of romanticised, sparkly teenagers.

Here’s that concept trailer from last year:

Really keen to see what they do with this, might’ve been very linear but I quite enjoyed Remember Me.

Urg. You don’t get to make fun of sparkly vampires if you’re one of those vampyre people. Nerd!

That being said, I’m VERY thankful for THOSE specific sparkly movies. Those were the last movies my wife had a say over, after that, I told her I’ll be in charge of what we watch together. Just NO way I’m EVER sitting through something like that again.

They were my liberation from chick flicks, and our marriage is for the better now, since I don’t moan and groan through movies, she gets to watch those movies, and I get more gaming time.

Thank you movie which we won’t mention, you have given me more gaming time!

But can you feed without killing?

Will there be alternatives to feeding like Blood Banks?

Will Max Time travel to stop you?
