I had a glorious evening yesterday, complete with delicious Rocomamas burger and wings, seeing the Wookiee and visiting with indies at the monthly meet up. But it took away precious time from the game I’m frantically playing for review, so please excuse me if I don’t give you a long, witty introduction today – I’ve got things to kill for your pleasure.

Lovely rain today in good ol Pretoria 😀 !
Makes me wonder what games have good rain mechanics – off the top of my head I can only think of Commandos 3 (which is about the only positive thing I can remember about the game)

I live close to the CSIR in a, thankfully, pretty chill area.

Rain in Cape Town too.

people need to learn to triple their stopping distance in the rain
Ceyber, Hans
November 12, 2014 at 16:39
Agreed. Or they could just learn the difference between what constitutes safe mobility in a moving vehicle on any terrain and in all weather, and what does not.
I mean, that’s what a license is for right?
Matewis Jubilai
November 12, 2014 at 16:42
Yup, and if they learn some patience as well, they’ll be halfway there already. Driving fast in the city, or even the highway saves you very little time at the end of the day. Eg, 140kph vs 120kph only save you 1 minute for every 10kms (while it destroys your fuel efficiency)
Spaffy
November 12, 2014 at 16:44
I’ll still get there 10min before you 😀

November 12, 2014 at 16:39
Capetonians need to learn to calm the f*&% down in the rain. We’re the most relaxed drivers in the country but when it starts to rain everyone goes aapkak. I don’t get it.
ToshZA
November 12, 2014 at 16:39
They should treat rain like Sundays. 30km/h in an 80 zone.
Ceyber, Hans
November 12, 2014 at 16:35
Doesn’t help that taxis get more rambunctious every day. One tried to
squeeze past me yesterday and our panels squeeled as he tried to force
through. Bastard tried to drive away so pulled in front of him and had some words.
Cop van was behind us – in peak-hour traffic no less – so at least I could get it sorted properly.

Captain JJ the valiant
November 12, 2014 at 16:48
Wow. If only we had decent trains from the Northern Subs or Subways or some kind of nice public transport. I drive 8 minutes to work, but I hate my job, so there’s a trade-off.
Spaffy
November 12, 2014 at 16:52
Decent trains would be nice. I tried the train once. Got on the train at 05h55. It was so packed. Like sardines. I had the woman in front of me’s hair in my mouth. There is no guards. No differentiation between 1st and 3rd class ticket. It smells. It’s noisy as hell. If you don’t fight your way into the train you’ll be at the station whole day. Never again.

November 12, 2014 at 16:56
I can still beat that, crawl my stinky ass out of bed in the Northern suburbs, 5m down the hall pass the bean-to-cup machine and I’m in my office.
Next year I have to go to an office though 🙁
Will be the first time in 8 years that I have to drive further than 5km to work.
Matewis Jubilai
November 12, 2014 at 16:49
One year I had to drive 60kms to Pretoria almost every weekday, and it nearly ‘killed’ me. I just couldn’t stand the traffic. I got up earlier and earlier until I managed to get there in under an hour – had to get up at 03:40 though 😛
Spaffy
November 12, 2014 at 16:53
03h40? wow. I’ve done then trip between JHB and PTA. That’s traffic. Our N1 is like an open road compared to that.
Matewis Jubilai
November 12, 2014 at 16:56
Oh yes, the N1 becomes bumper-to-bumper for kilometer after kilometer in places at around 06:30 😛 along with the major roads alongside it, such as the Old Jhb Road.
