Kill Hitler again (again!) in Sniper Elite 4

3 min read

How many times can you kill Hitler? If you’re playing Sniper Elite, many! Rebellion’s famed sniper-focused shooter is coming back in 2017, and once again it’ll let you make an evil despot with a funny moustache führious. Or dead.

In a new gameplay trailer, the game suggest that you’ll be able to put a bullet in to the man who caused the death of millions of people and plunged the planet in to a period of despair. Because videogames! The Sniper games may be politically and culturally tone deaf, but they do offer up some stonking good stealth and sniper action along with gruesome and grotesque violence. Sniper Elite 4 seems to deliver all of those in increased quantity and calibre.

Take a look at this trailer, which makes Mortal Kombat X’s X-ray moves look like Saturday morning cartoons. If you have a weak stomach or happen to be eating lunch, maybe give this one a skip, yeah?

Says the official site:

“Set in the aftermath of its award-winning predecessor, Sniper Elite 4 continues the series’ World War Two heritage by transporting players across the beautiful Italian peninsula, from sun-drenched Mediterranean coastal towns, to colossal Nazi mega structures, daunting forests and giddying mountain monasteries inspired by Monte Cassino.

Covert agent and elite marksman Karl Fairburne must fight alongside the brave men and women of the Italian Resistance to help free their country from the yoke of Fascism, and defeat a terrifying new threat with the potential to halt the Allied fightback in Europe before it’s even begun.

If his mission fails, there will be no Operation Overlord, no D-Day landings, and no Victory in Europe.”

Sniper Elite 4 is out next February on PS4, PC and Xbox One.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
