Raiden
The god of thunder who isn’t of much use when it comes to saving the world. While Raiden has a quite a few special attacks at his disposal, his combos leave much to be desired, as they’re mostly slow and awkward. But if he does connect with one or two of those combos, the possibilities to extend them into juggles that are boosted by special attacks will leave some major damage on your opponents.

Reptile
Sneaky little bugger. Reptile is another slow character in the game, but he makes up for this with some blindingly fast specials and combos that are sometimes impossible to react against. His invisibility is always handy, but his slide attack can countered easily, while his goo ball attacks can help manipulate an opponent to be setup for quick juggle attacks.

Scorpion
The fan favourite is back, bringing with him all his trademark moves and quips. While his spear attack can be easily avoided, his teleport has received a speed boost, resulting in quick combos for the unprepepared, while his hellfire attacks can easily disrupt defensive players. Easy combos and a gentle learning curve make him one of the better fighters in the game.

Sektor
Some ninjas must have loved the hell out of the Iron Man film. Sektor is a more specialised character in this MK instalment, using his special moves to setup opponents for his combos. While his flamethrower works well enough to create some distance, his variety of issile and teleport attacks allows him to attack from all sides, creating easy juggle scenarios.

Shang Tsung
The old man is back, younger and stronger than he ever was. Shang Tsung is an effective distance fighter, launching fireballs from every conceivable angle while baiting his enemies in for effective juggle combos, to make up for his poor close quarters fighting abilities.

Sheeva
Two arms good, four arms better! While Sheeva is one of the slower characters in terms of speed and reaction time, she more than makes up for it with her ground stomp attacks and teleport flourishes, while her throws are practically unavoidable.
