Midweek Mouth-off: The sequels you love to hate

There have been many many discussions about movie sequels that actually surpass the original (The Godfather Part II, The Empire Strikes Back and The Dark Knight Returns are common answers). Today though we want to hear about your WORST sequels – those overwrought, badly thought-out turds that wrecked a franchise for you.

Much like the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, the first was brilliant, the second only served as an unresolved bridge to the third, and the third was a so far removed from the first it barely fit in the trilogy at all. Or at least that’s how I saw it.

Might not have totally ruined the franchise for me, but was “uninspired” and “lazy” compared to the original – Boondock Saints 2 : All Saints Day

Everything that worked in the original, was overdone in the sequel. WAAAYYYY overdone. So in stead of things being funny/cool it was rather “not again, move on please”

I scanned through “the making off” after watching the film. What you said about being lazy is so true. The dream scene in the film was only thought out and written the day before the shot it. I did like the female lead though, but that was about it.
