One of my final sessions at E3 gave me the chance to briefly grab Destiny 2’s executive producer David Allen for some one-on-one. I had some questions. Allen had some answers for me. So here they are from our short and sweet session.

Is the inclusion of characters of colour a reaction to having diversity in a game merely for the sake of it? Not even close, as Sledgehammer Games co-founder and studio head Glen Schofield told me how their presence in Call of Duty: WW II reflects the true history of the people who participated in the last great war to end all wars.

This year, things are different for the long-running multiplayer suite as it ditches exoskeletons and the tall skyscrapers of tomorrow for a more grounded warfare experience that brings back some old school action.

Call of Duty: World War II isn’t just a back to basics approach for the franchise, but a game that wants be both entertaining and respectful of the past with story that doesn't shy away from the horrors of war.

Call of Duty this year feels like a game built on that passion, built on the history of World War II and the impact that it had on generations to come. Speaking to Sledgehammer studio heads Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey ahead of E3, the two co-founders of the studio filled me on how the team had come together to tell a more personal story in Call of Duty this year.

Destiny 2 is coming – and it’s coming a littler earlier than anticipated. Usually games are delayed, but Bungie’s sequel is coming before it’s meant to. You'll be able to play Destiny 2 on console from September 6, and on PC from October 24.

This year, Call of Duty is rewinding back to the darkest conflict in our history. World War 2 was where Call of Duty was born, as the bloody battlefields of Europe played host to plenty of digital warfare. The boots are back on the ground this year, as Sledgehammer Games’ Glen Schofield detailed the war ahead.

Destiny 1 is for all intents and purposes deader than my parent’s love for me on my birthday, as developer Bungie confirmed that it was all going all in for Destiny 2. Might be time to finally delete it from the console. Sob.
