At the Destiny 2 reveal event, I spent plenty of time in front of a screen. I also spent a lot of time looking at a collection of Destiny guns that were thankfully behind some lick-proof tempered glass in that hangar. Look at these beauties.

Bungie may have had plenty of Destiny 2 available for a lucky few to experience a few weeks ago, but only one of its truly new classes was ready for action: The new Warlock Dawnblade. Half Solar powerhouse and half the best bits of Highlander thanks to an almighty sword attack, the Dawnblade is a new take on the Solar sub-class for the Warlock.

Bungie’s reveal last week promised a world more populated with stories to tell and legends to uncover. Tales which won’t come solely from the campaign itself but rather your actions in the worlds available to explore. Especially if you like to mix things up by tackling some of the new Adventures which flesh out the usual grind of daily bounties.

Every game in Destiny 2 will make use of peer-to-peer connections to connect players. That’s fine for PvE engagements in Destiny 2, but also means that PvP rounds are going to once again favour the host player who runs that match in comparison to the dedicated server setup which gives everyone a fair shot and equal footing in the Crucible. Bungie has a plan to even the playing field for Destiny 2 players using this setup.

Destiny 2 features four new locations to explore: The European Dead Zone, the Vex planetoid Nessus, the Saturnian satellite Titan and the holy land of Io. Here’s what project lead Mark Noseworthy had to say about these new zones when I quizzed him about them at last week’s Destiny 2 reveal.

In Destiny 2 there's a new player in town: The Red Legion. Much like the Cabal on Mars and Phobos, these guys are massive walking tanks who require plenty of ammo to take down. On the surface, the Red Legion are typical Cabal shock ‘n awe troops. Dig a little deeper however, and you’ll find that these “special forces” have a few new tricks and units up their massive sleeves, as they’re more than prepared for your usual techniques.

In Destiny 2 a new threat has emerged from beyond our solar system: Dominus Ghaul, leader of the Red Legion and the force behind the invasion of the Last City that results in every Guardian being cut off from their source of Light connected to the Traveller.

The setup for Countdown in Destiny 2 is easy enough: Like every other mode on offer the action is restrained to 4v4, respawns are limited and you have only one life to give when said revives are spent. The objective? Activate a charge and defend it for around half a minute or defend said charge and defuse any that have been activated. It’s simple, fast and furious. Which is why Countdown is so much damn fun to play.
