Speaking at Gamescom, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed that there won't be a new Assassin's Creed game in 2019 as the company seeks to continue supporting Odyssey

That Nemesis System was a stroke of inspired cleverness by developer Monolith Games, an idea that players wanted to see copied and pasted in other games. To a certain extent, Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will have its own take on the gameplay mechanic, offering players Mercenaries instead of Nemesises…Nemesi…dammit what’s the plural of Nemesis I should know this oh right it’s Nemeses.

Athens must have been a masterpiece of a city when it was bustling, as its ruins still stand today after centuries of war, wear and tear. For Ubisoft, the challenge in recreating Athens came from finding the right balance between digging out the original city from across the ocean of time and staying as authentic as possible to its origins in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

There’s a certain joy in reliving history, especially when you’re the one that happens to be wielding a hidden blade at famous historical figures. Why settle on just one time period though? Why not have multiple, like a mad season of Doctor Who? Ubisoft isn’t averse to the idea of trampling through multiple eras of human history. With a slight twist, of course.

Skull and Bones ramps up the speed and action to its sea-based combat, which makes it skirmishes on the high seas incredibly engrossing.
