Star Wars Battlefront 2 had just been released and something was rotten in the state of Denmark. Loot boxes were out of control, the chances of unlocking a character to use in a multiplayer game required a grind of note and in a spot of damage control, EA’s mystery community manager of reddit left a comment that had players fuming. A comment that would go on to make history.

Star Wars Battlefront II’s loot boxes however, may just be the worst of the lot. The recent multiplayer beta revealed a system which is very much built on paying to win, offering easy access to perks and player progression if the sound of your coin is just right. That has of course resulted in an uproar from fans, players who aren’t happy that a recommended retail price investment also offers anyone with a few dollars more an easy leg up.
