Tales from the Borderlands deserved better, and now that it’s back on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, the time to revisit one of the best stories in all of video games is primed and ready for action.

The game within a game that players must endure in Borderlands 2 is now a real thing you can order with actual money and if you’re a tabletop fan, why wouldn’t you?

A decade of gaming in a single package, the latest return to Pandora still stands tall as a testament to brilliant game design, and even with a few technical concessions along the way, it makes for one handsome pack of fun.

Paul Sage sits opposite me, his intense eyes staring down at me from behind his glasses. Sage has worked on some of my favourite games which include the first two Borderlands, and he’s on the verge of launching the long-awaited next mainline entry into the beloved franchise. Borderlands 3 is one of the year’s most anticipated games, and I know several people who’ve played through the older games in eager expectation of Gearbox’s looty-shooty sequel. That seems to be the case for many people. In its latest financial report, 2K parent company Take-Two revealed that sales of the Borderlands games have shot up in the last quarter, likely riding the hype of the impending follow-up.

The leaked expansion to the looter shooter that came out roughly seven years ago launched last night and is completely free for all players until July 9th. With the ever-growing hype surrounding Borderlands 3 consuming a vast portion of many gamer’s brain stems, it seems like an almost obvious idea for 2K and Gearbox to return to the beloved second …

Last month, rumour suggested that there’d be some new DLC for Borderlands 2 coming this month. The rumour suggested it would tie the events from Borderlands 2 with the impending sequel, giving us more insight into what happens to Sanctuary. It’s no longer a rumour.

Borderlands 3 is coming later this year, and I’m increasingly becoming excited for it. That’s despite the fact that every time Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford seems to open his mouth, stupidity flows out of it. Games aren’t made by single people in vacuums though, so I’m happy to support the hundreds of people making the game, when evidence suggests their boss might not be the nicest person on the planet. I’m veering off topic though. The point is that we’re getting more Borderlands – but we might be getting even more than anticipated.
