Did you buy Crackdown 2, the ultimately disappointing sequel to one of the most strangely fun sandbox games this generation? You may have been excited to know that its Premium Toy Box Pack – that adds a cheat mode, two new vehicles; a mini-tank and a four-person Squad Chopper; five new toys, including the gravity warping Mass Driver and Portable …

Sony and Square Enix Facing Final Fantasy XIII Class Action Lawsuit

By Geoffrey Tim

Final Fantasy XIII ended up being not all it could be – but that’s no reason to sue Sony and the game’s developers, Square Enix. Apparently a better reason is the claim that the game has caused PS3s to become inoperable – effectively bricking them. I can’t say I’ve personally heard of a single instance of that happening, but Daniel …

By Nick De Bruyne

Uh oh, God of War III is out there, right now. South African retailers seem to be notoriously bad for breaking street dates these days and the latest culprit is Incredible Connection. While not all of the stores have the game on the shelves, a post on the South African PS3ZA forums has notified us that an Incredible Connection in …

South African retailers have broken the street date for Heavy Rain. Easily one of the most anticipated titles of 2010, Heavy Rain is now available in many stores around the country, proving once more that local retailers still don’t even understand the concept of a street date. Let me tell you a quick story. On Friday, my wife – a …

Fat Princess, Titan Studios’ class-based, cake-enriched take on capture-the-flag is available on PSN and it’s delightful. Unfortunately, the game – which places emphasis on multiplayer – has launched with its online multiplayer component broken, paralleling Castle Crashers’ defective release on XBL last year. Thankfully Titan and Sony are aware of the online issues, and have taken a break from stuffing …

MetaCritic User Reviews Plagued Fanboy's

On popular review aggregation site Metacritic, 1UP’s review score of an “A” for Gears of War 2 somehow translates into a “100”, MetaCritic’s highest possible ranking. I’m not sure how that alchemy works, but that score (plus a whole lot of positive reviews from other outlets) hasn’t stopped a group of rogue user reviewers from dropping the game’s user score …

Gears of War 2 Street Date Broken

By Nick De Bruyne

GoW2CNA.jpg Could everyone please give a round of applause to CNA for breaking a street date on an important title yet again. News came in yesterday via the Prophecy forums when forum member "Thrawn" posted that while out having dinner with his fiancee at Centurion Mall, they wondered into the local CNA only to find Gears of War 2 sitting on the shelves. Is it really that difficult to keep a couple of games in a storeroom until the release date. I can understand that mistakes happen but why does it always turn out to be CNA? Are they doing it on purpose or are the staff really just incapable of understanding how street dates work. All I know is that Microsoft should lay down a hefty fine on them to make them learn their lesson. For all of you that are already halfway out the door, the forum member reckons that the game will probably be off the shelves by 10:00 - 10:30AM so don't get your hopes up.
