Eight years, a breath-taking cameo, and several delays later, and Cyberpunk 2077 has finally arrived. It hasn’t been the kind of hotly-anticipated launch, has it?

Cyberpunk 2077 tells a compelling story with an excellent assortment of characters but fails to deliver on the promises of a living, breathing open-world. All of these faults are amplified by a messy user interface, unengaging combat, and shoddy performance across multiple platforms.

Cyberpunk 2077 was always going to turn a profit, controversies be damned. A decade of development, a slick campaign hyping up the product, and throwing America’s sweetheart Keanu Reeves into the mix was a recipe for success, and after a mere day on store shelves, CD Projekt Red has already recouped its development costs from pre-order sales alone.

After eight years of waiting, Cyberpunk 2077 is finally out this week, 57 years ahead of schedule. Reviews have been mostly positive, praising the game’s bleak nature and incredible RPG mechanics while also taking note of its many, many bugs, but there’s a good time to be had. And a possible seizure procedure waiting in the wings as well.

Whether it sinks or swims, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to dominate the news cycle for a good period of time after launch, not only through reviews and features but through its impact on pop culture. And when you’ve got the most-hyped video game in history arriving in a mere number of days, of course you’re going to have a porn parody to go with it.

Cyberpunk 2077, the game of a dozen delays and impossible hype, is finally ready for its December 10 launch on a bunch of systems. Last week saw footage released for the game running on Xbox One X (meh) and Xbox Series X (better!), while this week the focus is on jacking into the Sony side of Night City. Also stop laughing, you juvenile lot. That sentence is only slightly funny.

Cyberpunk 2077 looks…okay on Xbox One X! It had all the visual hallmarks of this current generation of gaming, but it didn’t run so good and there were some noticeable frame-rate drops in the game which mostly ran at 30 frames per second. On the Xbox Series X, there’s a more stable game under the hood. It’s worth noting that this version running on the Xbox Series X is Cyberpunk 2077 without any console next-gen upgrades, so it’ll be interesting to see how the game evolves after those features are added.

You know your game might be a little overhyped if other studios are refusing to release in the same window, which is exactly what CDPR wants, I’m sure.
