Comixology is taking its platform a step further this month, as the website isn’t just content to sell comic books. It’s going to publish it’s own series, starting with a powerhouse quartet that sits between fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and superhero genres.

The Justice League’s greatest supervillain team has been missing in action for several years now, thanks in part to the Legion’s de facto leader Lex Luthor actually emerging as a force for good in the world. Later this year though, Lex is ditching the S on his power armour and going back to his villainous roots as he reassembles the Legion of Doom to fight back against the massive cosmic changes that have begun to pour forth from the breach of the Source Wall that occurred in Dark Nights Metal.

Amazing Spider-Man #800 is a celebration of the blue-collar web-spinner, an anniversary issue that is equal parts sensational and spectacular in its blockbuster approach to Spidey’s greatest battle yet.

The Rob Liefeld of today is a far cry of the artist who helped create characters like Deadpool and the super-team Youngblood. Liefeld’s art has matured, although it’s still wonderfully iconic in its own unique way. Even better? Liefeld is apparently aware of the jokes, and he’s rolling with it. That’s not just fun, that’s admirable. Which brings us to the most Liefeld-esque creation you’ll ever see: The Pouch!

FARMHAND follows farmer Jedidiah Jenkins whose cash crop isn’t corn or soy… it’s a little more unusual. Jed grows fast-healing, plug-and-play human organs. Lose a finger? Need a new liver? He’s got you covered. Unfortunately, strange produce isn’t the only thing Jed’s got buried. Deep in the soil of the Jenkins Family Farm, something dark has taken root, and it’s beginning to bloom. FARMHAND is a dark comedy about science gone sinister and agriculture gone apocalyptic.

If the Irish weren’t fighting outside invaders to their island nation, then chances were high that they’d be at war with one another. It’s a story that has been told through countless other civilisations, and yet the Irish take on civil war has always felt especially bloody. That’s kind of the driving force in Clankillers, by Sean Lewis, Antonio Fuso and Dave Sharpe.

Superman is still a hero who can do more than just stop a locomotive from going off the tracks or introducing a Lex Luthor killbot to the surface of the sun Over the years, Superman has been redefined as a beacon of hope, a hero who reminds us that we can all be better people and symbols to those around us. Elements which you’ll see plenty of in Brian Michael Bendis’ run that kicks off in the Man of Steel mini-series, before moving on to the core Superman and Action Comics titles.

With 380 chapters published since 1998, Hunter X Hunter’s story is still in its infancy when compared to other series that have come and gone. Will Hunter X Hunter ever finish? Author Yoshihiro Togashi is surprisingly upbeat about the planned end of the series.
