The biggest annual convention event on the geek calendar officially won't be happening this year thanks to the COVID-10 pandemic.

Gamescom’s organisers have confirmed that the video game extravaganza won’t be held in the numerous massive halls of the Koelnmesse this year. Here’s the official announcement, detailing how a digital Gamescom is in the works

Currently scheduled for a convention date of August 25 to August 29, that puts one of the best gaming shows of the year strictly in the verboten crosshairs of the German government, forcing Gamescom to adapt to a digital strategy for this year.
