Cross-platform play is a thing now, thanks to Sony finally opening the gates of their walled garden a little. In a recent earnings call, Ubibos Yves Guillemot said that the company planned to add the feature to every one of its existing games with PvP.
Now, without explicitly saying as much, PS4 cross platform play is out of beta. According to Wired, in an extensive interview about PlayStation Now with Sony Interactive Entertainment boss Jim Ryan, Cross play is now out of beta and any developer who wishes to use the functionality may do so.

PlayStation 4 Fortnite players will be able to test their mettle against not just Pc and mobile players, but also those playing on Xbox One and Switch.
Sony’s still not backing down on the cross platform play argument, suggesting that the reason they’re not opening the gates is because PlayStation is the best place to play. Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference, Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick had some fair words of warning for Sony.
Xbox One, Windows 10, Android, iOS and VR Minecraft players can all play together, With Nintendo Switch owners soon joining the part. For PlayStation Minecrafters? Nothing but sad trombones.
