Modern videogames are finding refreshing ways to appeal to their core audience while offering new ways for less experinced players to engage with them. And it's time more started taking better notice of it.

Dark Souls is already getting a remaster, but Japan is getting a special box set celebrating everything this stunning trilogy has already offered.

Looks like Kotaku owes their source a beer, as earlier rumours of the brutally difficult RPG landing on the Nintendo Switch were in fact bang on the money. Praise the sun. Out on May 25 of this the year of our Ember Lord, Dark Souls on Switch will feature a hefty remastering and tuning for the Nintendo Switch, so that you can be prepared to die while you’re on the go. Handy.

If there’s any single of the Soulsborne games that people would love to play in this new generation, it’d be Demon’s Souls. Unfortunately, that’s not happening – but people would probably be almost as keen to jump back into Hidetaka Miyazaki and FROM Software’s Dark Souls again.

Immortal Planet is one such game that bills itself as a “Souls-like” experience, an isometric action game with sprinkles of RPG and adventure mixed in.
