Eighteen (yes, eighteen) new movies hit DVD and home release this month. Among them is dark romantic fantasy The Shape of Water, this year's Best Picture winner at the Academy Awards.

It's the first Friday in February, but there's no romance to be found yet on local screens. Instead, this week's new movies vascillate between incredible, Oscar-worthy stories and mostly meh action movies.

Weekend Box Office Report 12 - 14 January 2018 - Despite competition from four new debuts led by Steven Spielberg's The Post, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle still held onto the top spot in the US. Meanwhile, even though Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now the tenth biggest film of all time, it's also written its name into the record books in China for all the wrong reasons.

Weekend Box Office Report 5 - 7 January 2018: After ruling the box office since release and becoming one of the biggest films of all time, Star Wars: The Last Jedi was finally dethroned by Dwayne Johnson and the rest of the crew from the unexpectedly good Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

Gary Oldman is at it again with another fantastic on-screen transformation, this time as the iconic prime-minister Winston Churchill in the upcoming war drama, Darkest Hour.
