Days Gone clearly has an active hub of players who have clocked some impressive hours within that Oregon trail sandbox over the course of a year. With 365 days gone in Days Gone (HA!), Sony Bend decided to celebrate with numbers highlighting just how busy the fanbase has been in the first year of Freaker-slaying action.

Some kind of error apparently caused the online retailer to incorrectly categorise PS4 exclusive games as coming to PC and it’s clearly a big ol’ mistake.

On the cusp of a new console generation, 2019 was gaming at its very finest and worst when you think about it. Old legends returned to glorious new heights as single-player games surged forward in quality as gamers got fed up with peak live service game launches, indies remained as groundbreaking as ever and pure thrills based on proven formulas filled the spaces between big budget releases. Which means that obviously , its award season time.

As far as apocalypses go, the end of times represented within Breakfast Run ‘em up Days Gone may just be one of the worst. Not as bad as the one in The Last of Us mind you, because even in a world where humanity has been wiped out by homicidal fungus at least you know you’re never far away from …

Sony has been on a winning streak with its first-party exclusives, knocking it out of the park with great games like Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War, and Marvel’s Spider-Man. They have a focus on both quality and quantity, so there’s a lot of pressure on Bend’s Days gone to deliver the same sort of impact. Unfortunately, it doesn’t, and critics have largely slammed the game for being repetitive, buggy and uninspired. It’s not a bad game, just not the sort of thing you’d expect from a first party one.

Days Gone has moments where it reveals its brilliance, but they’re buried under a litany of uninteresting and repetitive missions and numerous technical issues

Sony Bend plans to keep the Days Gone train rolling with a brand new set of challenges in June. “‘Survival’ difficulty mode tests players by daring them to beat the story with increased difficulty settings, no fast travel or Survival Vision, and an immersive HUD that removes maps and indicators from the gameplay screen,” Bend Studio game director Jeff Ross wrote on the Sony Blog.

With around 40 hordes inside of Days Gone and each one of these viral mosh pits numbering between 50 to 500 ankle-biters each, they’re dangerous enough on their own. But seeing them actually roam about? Now that’s an interesting wrinkle.
