Not all of Death Stranding's systems mesh convincingly at times, which coupled with its slow start can leave a bad first impression. But its narrative and eventual gameplay pace are both compelling enough to chase down.

Death Stranding, the first game from Hideo Kojima after his separation from Konami, is coming to the PlayStation 4 in less than two weeks. The game’s a curiosity, one that Kojima says is a whole new genre. While we’re under strict embargo and can’t say anything at all about the game, I can say that love him or hate him, Kojima’s games are always an event. He may perhaps be a little up his own behind sometimes, but the man certainly makes interesting games.

Folks, we have made it. Through the fire and flames (Which is a kickass Dragonforce track by the way), through the controversies and the glitches. You’ve weathered disappointments and lukewarm launches, you sat through the hype and the triumphs of a year that was nothing short of memorable. And here we are, brothers in video game arms who are ready for one last push. One final dab of that interactive hot sauce that we simply cannot get enough of.

Look, at some point we’ll stop being utterly baffled by this game but I don’t think we’re there just yet.

Death Stranding may just be the one horror game that deals with the subject matter that terrifies me the most: Socialisation.

I like my video game news to be delivered in much the same way that I like my pizza to be dropped off by me: Brief, cut into easily digestible segments and incredibly disappointing when there’s not even the merest mention of a new Batman game which results in me spending the night in a shower crying my heart out. …

Hideo Kojima recently took to Twitter to explain more of the concepts regarding Death Stranding, likening its ideas around the Social Strand System to being what Tactical Espionage Action was for Metal Gear Solid.

That could be a really good thing considering the Strand genre is under-represented on PC
