BlizzConOnline kicks off in a handful of hours, and while fans are expecting some sort of update on Diablo 4, it looks like the development team just dropped some early and meaty tidbits on how the game is shaping up so far. BlizzCon may have been a bust in 2020, but one of the oldest names in video games is back with a vengeance in 2021! With convention center doors still closed, the annual pilgrimage to Anaheim is off the table, but Blizzard is instead bringing BlizzCon online this year in the form of…well, BlizzConOnline. The show kicks off on February 19 and wraps up the following day, and will include plenty of panels, cosplay, and reveals.

There seems to be fear in the air regarding the online component of Diablo 4, not only from the days of horror that gave birth to the the infamous Error 37 in Diablo 3’s earliest runs but also an underlying uneasiness of MMO elements that may be at odds with the core feel of how a Diablo game should play. Blizzard promised fans that they’d not only listen to their feedback, they’ll be acting on it and introduce some cha-cha-changes to Diablo IV during its incubation phase as development heats up. The first of those changes were revealed a few hours ago, within the company’s first of several promised quarterly updates. Based on feedback from the BlizzCon 2019 showfloor where fans got an early taste of the game, Blizzard’s first focus going forward is on the how of the game and its controls, as the original setup wasn’t too popular with anyone who went hands-on with the product.
