Skate It – Balance Board Demo

By Nick De Bruyne

This video marks the first time that we see how the Nintendo Balance board is going to work in the Nintendo Wii version of the newly popular Skate franchise. Although they discuss how the balance board works they have actually done very little to explain how all the tricks are actually going to work. They explain that by leaning back on the board you will ollie and by leaning on the front you would perform a nollie. I somehow doubt that a 360 flip will require you to do something similar to an advanced level of Dance Dance Revolution. My guess is that the ollie will be performed with the board and then the trick itself will be performed by flicking the wiimote. Either way this could prove to be a lot of fun and the balance board will add an interesting element to you balance in grinds and manuals. I hope they don't mess this up because I actually think that they may be onto something here.

As a whole, sports titles must be one of the most profitable genres in the gaming industry, Madden alone has proved that it has an enormous fan base. Every year we get bombarded with sports titles and every year I find myself buying every one. Be it Madden or Top Spin, PES or Tiger Woods, I always end up with …

FaceBreaker bombs

Damnit, I really was hoping this game was going to be good and I was even okay with the demo because EA still had time to improve the imbalances. However it seems that they haven’t done that and have released a horribly flawed game. IGN has just released their review and given it a 5/10 which is fantastic since EDGE …

There were rumours a short while back that Mirror’s Edge was going to be a PS3 exclusive. As insane as this idea was it had to be officially denied by EA Games and Sony, however it seems that the source of this rumour was something a little more plausible. Sony has announced that it has an exclusive marketing deal with …

I have been a fan of the Tiger Woods series for my entire life… okay that’s entirely untrue but what is true is that I have enjoyed the game ever since it was first released. I will admit however that I normally only pick up every second title as I found the improvements to be good but not groundbreaking. However …

So it may not be getting the best reviews at the moment but Mercenaries 2 is still highly anticipated, and as with any other highly anticipated cross platform title we need to compare them… So if you have a PS3 and a Xbox 360 then take a look and see if either version grabs your attention? Mirror’s Edge is another one of those titles that is getting a lot of media attention and interest at these conventions and PAX is no exception. However I hope that this video is just showing badly on my machine and the actual game is not as jerky and disorientating as this. And how is the balancing going to work on …

The general manager of European publishing for EA Games, Jens Uwe Intat, has been talking to GamesIndustry.biz about the second hand gaming marketing and how it is a critical situation for them. He goes on to say that you cannot compare the second hand games market to other second hand markets as games don’t suffer the wear and tear of …
