Spawn isn’t just a great character in Mortal Kombat 11. He’s a loving translation of the cult classic comic book anti-hero, rendered in all his hellish glory and unleashed within the Netherrealm to bring demonic justice to foes and fans alike. Mortal Kombat 11 is ending its first year with a bang, giving fans a brawler whose ability to keep the competition at bay with an arsenal of anarchy that finally gives the devil his due. Which is way past my bedtime so I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to play it. Damn it mom, let me be cool like the other kids and give me an 8PM curfew.

The Battle Royal genre ain’t dead yet! Still as lucrative as ever and home to some big players, Call of Duty Black Ops IIII took a stab at the theme a while back and found great success with Blackout. While Blackout was fun, it did also feel like a game that had numerous ideas stitched together instead of organically giving players the smoothest possible Call of Duty last man standing experience. Call of Duty: Warzone aims to change that, with a mode that is fast, furious and features some novel ideas to keep players constantly on their toes.
