Around two years ago at an older Game Awards show, the Polish team of The Astronauts showed off their next game. Called Witchfire, it looked like a funky mix of action that made no bones about it wanting to be the Dark Souls of shooters. Which is weird because that game already exists and is called Rainbow Six: Siege. HEYOH!

Called Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries, the latest chapter in the ancient franchise looks like exactly the kind of robot game I’ve been waiting for. Absolute units of mass destruction, gigantic mechanical marvels stomping around the battlefield and unleashing volleys of ultra devastation on anything that gets in their way.

Can a game set in the post nuclear apocalypse of the future that the films are trying to avoid, be the salvation that fans are looking for? I’m…not exactly sold on what I’ve seen so far. While a first-person shooter with stealth, a few role-playing mechanics and a crafting system should sound like a dream Terminator game, developer Teyon’s (You may remember them from that Rambo game which was uh something to say the least) stab at the Skynet future looks passable at best. See for yourself, with close to a half hour of new footage straight from EGX.

There’re still two weeks to go before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s release on October 25, but that’s never stopped a video game company from releasing a “launch” trailer before. And that’s precisely what Activision and Infinity Ward have done, with an explosive new launch trailer set to a mix of sorts of Metallica’s Enter Sandman.
