EA’s been in the news again (for good reasons I swear!), as a few weeks ago saw the reveal of a new Plants vs Zombies game for mobile, while yesterday saw a listing for the next chapter in that car racing series that gives people a desire for velocity. While EA did confirm that a new Need for Speed game was on the horizon, a new listing from Austrian retailer Gameware may have spilled the beans on this next entry in the franchise which goes by the name of Need for Speed: Heat.

Need For Speed Payback is a game built around the most cringe-worthy of dialogue, quotes so shockingly cheesy that your eyeballs are in danger of rolling out of your head with enough force to puncture your skull. Nowhere else in the game is that fact more apparent than in the Street Leagues. You’re racing around the city of Silver Rock to gain allies, leaders of gangs who each operate according to a certain discipline and spout out lines that reads like bad fan fiction.

While Need for Speed Payback doesn’t have a garage filled with hundreds of cars or a narrative that isn’t a cheap imitation of the Fast ‘n Furious franchise but with even more cringe worthy dialogue, it does have some classic vehicles lurking in the desert of Fortune City. Having wisely chosen to give the Need For Speed franchise a biannual berth instead of forcing a new title down player throats every year, EA’s series races back into contention with a new look and attitude on November 10. Need For Speed Payback is the name of the game, and it has a selection of cars which hum with the kind of V8 growling that you’d expect when you’re digitally throwing fingers at cops.
