Boot up the Multiverse and head to “The War To End All Wars” and you’ll be able to battle it out for Wonder Woman movie gear. The ladders all lead to a culmination with Cheetah, and each one adds level-specific gear to your arsenal based on Gal Gadot’s gladiatorial outfit to your armory.

Half the fun of Injustice 2 is in the art of super-punching the likes of walking nuclear bombs and billionaires with too much time and on their hands into orbit. The rest of the fun inside of Injustice 2 comes from playing dress-up with these gods and monsters, crafting their look with a meticulous attention to detail.

A week after launch and the playing field has already begun showing a few clear favourites in Injustice. Here’s the current list of the top ten Injustice 2 characters for online play, which happen to be mostly metahuman gods and mentally-damaged billionaire playboy philanthropists with issues.

Injustice 2’s early facial animation felt like a low-budget sequel to Face-Off. The animations were stiff, the expressions were downright weird and the end result was jarring, to say the least. The backlash from that early look might have been the best thing to ever happen because the game that released last week has the kind of facial animation that would put LA Noire to shame.

Injustice 2 is NetherRealm at its very best. It’s a game that succeeds not just as a great fighting game, but a superlative superhero one. An accessible yet deep fighting system, an engaging and cinematic single player campaign, a rewarding loot system, and a wealth of content. Injustice 2 has it all.

For a genre which was this close to knock-knock knockin’on heaven’s door, the fighting scene is very much alive and kicking today. Part of that revival comes from not only solid games, but also an even more dedicated fanbase in esports.
