Marvel has done a terrible job so far on giving their new generation of heroes a legacy worth pursuing. Marvel Generations wants to change all of that with a ten-issue anthology series that pairs the next generation with the old. Here's who’ll be handling what on the creative side of Generations.

Marvel's grand plan for a shared cinematic universe is now nearing a record tenth year of movies, sequels and ambition. All of that comes to a head in what the company calls Phase 3 of these films, the culmination of which is Avengers: Infinity War. So what does the future hold for Marvel once the dust has settled? A very different new universe for its heroes.

Recently, Marvel’s core trinity has been anything but Heroic. Thor lost his hammer and charm, Captain America has staged a coup de grace on the United States and Tony Stark is currently enjoying a nice coma nap thanks to the events of Civil War II. Marvel Legacy looks set to rectify all of that, with a “bold new direction” this that will "embrace our roots and move enthusiastically forward".

Maybe the clothes do make the man. Or maybe the suit of billion-dollar titanium armour wrapped around the smug face of a genius playboy philanthropist makes the Iron Man. Point is, is that Tony Stark has had a lot of armour over the years. That’s the point of the character in comic books and films: A futurist who always looks forward and never stops innovating, never settling for tradition or the past in his quest to go beyond the present. Hot Toys have announced a newish Iron man figure for the collection. It’s essentially the Mark 41 Bones armour with fresher colours, or in the paraphrased words of Waylon Smithers: He’s got a new hat! Check it out below.

For decades Marvel was known as the House of Ideas. Lately though? Those ideas seem to have run out, with the Disney-owned publisher pushing every single event it could think of out of the gate in at attempt to claw back some of the market share it lost to other rivals. So who’s to blame for the current slump then? You’d think with a multimedia juggernaut behind them that Marvel would be selling multiple runs of any comics with ease, but that’s not the case. And it’s all the fault of diversity. At least that’s what Marvel VP of Sales David Gabriel thought during an interview at a Marvel Retailer Summit.

Times have changed over at Marvel. A new generation of heroes have risen, some good and some bad. While characters such as Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan and Miles Morales feel like worthy successors to the identities that they’ve claimed as Hawkeye, Miss Marvel and Spider-Man respectively, other new additions feel ham-fisted and forced upon readers so far. It’s very much old school and new school clashing right now, something that Marvel is looking to fix with their upcoming Generations event that’ll run from July through to September over the course of ten of their books

The House of Ideas knows that it needs to restore some order to a very chaotic universe right now. Which is where Marvels comes in, as that series looks like it’ll be blending the past, present and future into one cohesive direction for the publisher. And according to a leaked synopsis on Amazon, that status quo certainly is coming back
