Street Fighter IV – Japan Loves it Long Time

By Nick De Bruyne

Street Fighter IV gas been released in Japan and has been met with an incredible amount of love from the local gamers. The title went on to sell 86 000 units across both platforms on its first day. To give you a good idea of how impressive that is, Soul Calibur, the current record holder for a fighting game across …

Gears of War 2 may or may not be releasing in Japan. Huh?

Reports have been going around the internet saying that according to EDGE magazine, Gears of War 2 will not only not be released in Germany but will not see the light of day in Japan either. The report caused much confusion because the first Gears of War sold well in Japan and even made it into the sales charts on it's opening weekend and no reasons had been given for why it would be kept out of Japan. We all know why Germany isn't getting it. It's because if a German citizen sees violence they turn into zombies that eat all of the neighbours kittens and the mess is truly a sight to behold. We all know that Japanese people are immune to becoming zombies because of the (Y12/7 +43ab - 7) chromosomes in their blood. So why aren't they getting it? More after the jump. Well an update has now been posted saying that Microsoft is not entirely happy with what they said and that apparently no mention has been made of the release plans for Japan. Does that mean Japan is getting it after all? Err, well, no it doesn't but it does at least give hope to all the Japanese 360 owners who want to play it (latest reports show that there are now more that 8, thanks to recent sales).

RROD attacks Japan

xbox_demo_closer.jpg The Xbox 360 has been doing really well in Japan of late, outselling even the very strong and supported Playstation 3. So just when things start going well, it's infamous fault, the Red Ring of Death decided to rear its ugly head in one of Japans most popular retail outlets. Now I don't know about you, but if I was Microsoft then making sure that situations like this don't happen would be on the top of my to-do list. The truth is that even though there are newer and better chipsets coming out for the Xbox 360, the Red Ring of Death is still causing massive issues for gamers worldwide. It scares consumers, the idea of having a console that may just break down and die at any moment. The fact that the one on display in a store was doing so will most probably not help the cause for Microsoft at all. If things like this keep happening then Japan will happily turn back to the Wii and the PS3 and Microsofts gaming console will be nowhere to be seen once again.

Xbox 360 outsells the PS3 in Japan… Again

By Gavin Mannion

Can you believe that the Xbox 360 has actually outsold the PS3 in Japan now for 4 weeks running. That really is quite a feat and while the numbers are still low it must worry Sony a bit, I remember people saying that Microsoft cannot win this war without taking Japan. I have never believed that to be honest but …

Mad World isn’t going to be released in the Nanny States

By Gavin Mannion

PlatinumGames, the developers of Mad World, have stated that at the moment there aren’t any plans to release Mad World in any of the censorship heavy countries like Germany, Australia or Japan… I didn’t even know Japan was censorship heavy. Honestly I don’t blame them at all, they have an art style and plan for their game and I see …

The loons may all be right, the world may in fact be ending. We posted a few weeks back that the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 in Japan and then ran out of stock. The worldwide belief was that the Japanese had finally found a game they liked and it was just going to be a blip on the radar. …

Disaster: Day of Crisis – First Look – Nintendo Wii

By Nick De Bruyne

Now here is quite a hot looking Wii title. While the graphics look pretty impressive for the Wii, it actually looks like the gameplay is going to be a lot of fun and make really good use of the Wii's motion controller without overdoing it with some quirky gimmicky control scheme. This video is actually a compilation of a few videos put together, so get ready for some Japanese dude to say "Dee-Zah-Stah" a couple of times in a row. This might just be the type of Wii title that hardcore gamers have been waiting for. The game hits Japan at the end of this month and no date has even been given for North America yet, much less Europe and South Africa. I hope the reviews look good because this looks like something that I might just want to throw some money at.

Microsoft dropping the price of the 360 in Japan?

By Gavin Mannion

The rumours are in and apprently we can expect to see a Xbox 360 price cut in Japan in the coming week as well. We are still expecting the US prices to be slashed and the Arcade to reach the magical $199 figure this week over there, well the Japanese price cut is beating that and dropping the price of …
