Microsoft starts up another mass banning tidal wave

By Gavin Mannion

It’s a sight the really cheers me up, watching filthy pirates moaning and complaining that the evil Microsoft has once again decided enough is enough and have started turfing them all of Live. Reports started popping up everywhere last night that people were either receiving console bans (where the console can never go on Live again) or they were getting …

Rare Will Fix Tiny 'Banjo: Nuts & Bolts' SD Text, After All

Last week, we reported that the upcoming Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts was plagued with a particularly annoying problem for those still stuck with standard-definition televisions in the HD Era: the in-game text is so tiny it’s almost illegible. Rare’s initial response? “Tough cookies,” more or less, as a representative stated that it’s “simply something that’s too expensive in terms of …

Unfortunately we don’t have great news but it’s news at least. Nick (who is busy sunning himself in Sun City) has just received another response from Epic and Microsoft about this issue. We are now chatting with Guy Welch from Microsoft themselves as it isn’t an Epic issue really. Guy had the following to say Last Updated: November 11, 2008

Just yesterday, I wrote an article about how Fable 2 broke the one million copies sold mark in it’s first week on the shelves. As you all know, Fable 2 has a huge fanbase and is proving to be immensely successful. The smile on Lionhead’s faces can only go so far then they find out this next bit of news. …

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts Unreadable on SDTVs

By Gareth

If you’re a standard-definition television owner, you may want to consider canceling that pre-order for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.  Following the recent demo release, players using SDTVs noticed the text was difficult to read. This may remind you of a similar problem with Dead Rising, after which Capcom told fans they’d have to deal without a patch. A Rare community …

Maybe it’s a bit early to already be looking into the next year but I came across a posting on Videogamer.com this morning that has Microsoft talking about their awesome line up for next year, or actually not talking about. Just letting us know that it will be great. So while 2008 has once again been one of the best …

No More 360 Price Cuts – says Microsoft

By Nick De Bruyne

2

Anyone who has been paying any sort of attention to the gaming industry knows that Microsoft have taken a very aggressive approach this year by making some major slashes to the price of their Xbox 360 SKU's. In an interview with Videogamer.com, Stephen McGill, the head of Microsoft's gaming and entertainment department in the UK has said that he thinks that the Xbox 360 is "great value" and is at a "great price now". His explanation, after the jump. He says that Microsoft won't drop the price for "many many years in the future in the future I suspect" and also later goes on to say that: "It's great value. And I think the value not only comes from the price of the console but the content. With NXE launching and obviously that's free for everyone, and the portfolio. There isn't a better range of games and entertainment, basically fun, on any other platform, and we're incredibly affordable."" He is right though, the amount of console you are getting for the prices that they are now available is pretty remarkable and I really can't see that Microsoft would even be able to lower the prices any further, at least not for a couple of years. Sony on the other hand is holding tight with it's prices. With the line-up that the PS3 has got going for it as well as the strong brand recognition worldwide, I don't doubt that they will be selling consoles by the bucket-loads this Christmas either.
