It’s shorter and familiar, but the first solo outing of Miles Morales in his own dedicated video game is nothing short of amazing. A follow-up to an already spectacular first game, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales improves on its core design with creative energy and attitude that sets it apart from the original. A brilliant first step on the PS5 and a final hurrah for the PS4, Marvels Spider-Man: Miles Morales is spectacular.

Miles Morales may be the headline act of Sony’s PS5 launch game offerings, but there’s still a ton of love out there for the original arachnid-themed hero of a thousand adjectives. 2018’s Spider-Man game is still Marvel storytelling at its very best, but if you were looking to enjoy slinging a few webs across New York City with extra graphical bells and whistles, then you probably weren’t keen on replaying the entire story all over again. Because dammit my heart can’t take those emotional moments again. Insomniac, you absolute monsters what with your ability to make me…feel.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man, or as the game will be known outside of the US, Kilometer Morales: Spider-Man, won’t have a shortage of villains when it swings onto PS5 next week. The OG Spider-Man had his hands full with the Sinister Six, escaped prisoners, and the Taskmaster in 2018, but Miles will be facing a threat even worse than Galactus when he gets the munchies after passing through some groovy cosmic nebula: American capitalism.
