While developers such as Capcom and Bandai Namco usually come to the rescue with a heavyweight in their corner that is more than ready to throw a left hook into what remains of your bank balance, the month ahead sticks to safe ports and indie titles aplenty. The year ahead has plenty of contenders for game of the year lined up. Here’s a look at every confirmed game so far, as well as those titles which are waiting on a date.

After the PlayStation 3 had a sparse selection of platform-specific games under its belt, allowing Microsoft to surge ahead on the Xbox 360, Sony regained its momentum and started pumping money back into the studios contracted to it. Not every game was a winner, but when you’re batting more hits than misses then you know you’re on the right track. Sony hasn’t mentioned much regarding the PS Vita lately, as it looks like the Japanese developer of wares hard and soft (giggle) is looking to exit the dedicated mobile gaming field. Speaking to Bloomberg via Kotaku UK at the Tokyo Game Show last week, Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Andrew House explained that Sony didn’t see much value in continuing the PS Vita brand with a successor console.

Sony usually covers the cost of having multiple servers per game with PlayStation Plus, a monthly subscription that gives players online access, free games and discounts on online titles. A yearly subscription would usually run you around R749 for 365 days of access to the service. Or it will, until August 31 as PS Plus is about to become more expensive.
