I’ve become a lot pickier as of late with which figures I buy for my working corner, due to the fact that space is at a premium until I finally get some proper shelving sorted. If I had the space (and cash!) I’d have a shelf that was one action figure accessory away from splitting in half with all the plastic that I’d stock on top of it. It also doesn’t help that shows like the Toy Fair 2020 are making me Google how much a pint of my blood is currently worth, thanks to numerous retailers descending on New York to show off nerd pollen.

You can run, you can hide and you can cry…Hell you might as well do all three, because when Toy Fair 2019 kicked off, there was no refuge available for your wallet. Instead, the weekend saw more plastic unveiled than the supply closet of a Hollywood doctor. From Transformers to Batman, the New York show floor was filled with all manner of content that would bring out the inner child in even the most jaded cynic. Here’s a look at the best of the best, that tickled plenty of fancies.

He’s one of the most iconic fighting game villains of all time, a boneheaded conqueror of Outworld who first appeared in 1993’s Mortal Kombat 2 as the final threat and had every cheap trick in the book to throw at players. Super-speed, shoulder charges which he could combo into a mighty hammer blow…man this guy was all kinds of cheese.
