By Gavin Mannion

Nintendo have made a name for themselves in this generation by releasing bizarre controllers and peripherals that have then gone on to storm the market. The Wiimote was laughed at the first time we saw it and Wii Fit was ridiculed near and far. Both have gone on to destroy the market and no one’s laughing anymore. Last Updated: August …

So we all know people don’t like to admit that they love video games. Hey, it’s okay. I know we’re all not about to go stand in front of a beach of scantily clad women and shout: I love video games and I have a poster of Solid Snake on my wall…who wants to get it on? But Nintendo are …

Wii Fit Outsells Halo 3

Our recently posted February NPD sales figures showed that Wii Fit was still selling pretty gosh-darned well. How well exactly? 6 million units well, to be precise. As of February, sales of Nintendo’s balance-board exercise simulator have exceeded that of Microsoft’s genre-defining Xbox 360 shooter Halo 3. What makes this all the more impressive for Nintendo is that Wii Fit …

By Geoffrey Tim

Resident Evil 5 has, amidst renewed claims of racism and complaints about archaic controls managed to do quite well in the UK. Not just well, mind you; that would a gross oversimplification. Resident Evil 5, you see, has debuted at number 1 on the UK charts. Even that is not it’s most heralded achievement to date; it’s managed to outsell …

There is a local webcomic that I like to stop passed every now and then to see what new strips have popped up, I am the first to admit that I don’t get all of them and therefore don’t always post about them. However when I went over today I saw that #35 had been posted and I have to …

"WOW" Fit – A really funny gaming experiment

By Nick De Bruyne
August 27, 2008
in :  Gaming

This video is nothing short of hilarious and really makes you think about the kind of exercise that your character has to keep up with in order to move your sorry ass around the world. What these two guys have done is link up two treadmills to their computers running the MMO game "World of Warcraft" or "WOW" for short and programmed them to convert their treadmill running into forward key pulses, so that their real life running is converted into in-game running. More details after the jump. What they do is then embark on a fairly common journey in the game world from one area to another to experiment with how much exercise it actually is to take a jog around the world. The results are quite startling and it really makes you realise just how much it would actually take out of you to run all over the place and that doesn't even include any combat! I really take my hat off to these guys for thinking of this idea as it's really very interesting as well as funny. Maybe we will start seeing peripherals like this when the next generation of gaming consoles arrive. Or not.
