Remnant: From the Ashes looks superb, has been in development for a good chunk of time and it deserves more love when it launches in a week. So if you’re keen to try something different but you want the lowdown on what to expect, here’s a quick primer on everything that you need to know about this post-apocalypse shooter that blends a little of the ol’ Dark Souls influence with the addictive grind of an RPG where numbers do matter.

Activision has a few more of those remasters up its sleeves. With the publisher having scant few properties under its belt other than Call of Duty right now, Activision has realised that there’s some big money to be made when they give the past a face-lift. In a recent Q&A session that the company held with its voracious stockholders as they discussed the financial earnings for the 2nd Quarter, Activision president Rob Kostich detailed how their current remasters had done well on a critical and a financial level.

There are still those who are willing to get up at the crack of dusk and boot up their console to find him for you. People who’ll risk digital life and limb to let you know if Xur is selling a treasure or rubbish. I just so happen to be one of those people. Maybe you’re stuck at work and can only log in later tonight. In that case: Where is Xur?

Samurai Shodown won’t have tournament-level character balance, as that would be “boring”

By Darryn Bonthuys

Over in the world of Samurai Shodown, things are a little bit different. Sure the game has a broad selection of characters who all pack a universal wallop in their weapons, but at the highest level possible there’s a small number of favourite characters who stand out. And that’s just the way that Samurai Shodown director Nobuyuki Kuroki likes it.

Borderlands 3 will offer two different graphics modes on the more powerful consoles

By Geoffrey Tim

Mid-generation hardware updates have separated even console gamers into the haves and the have-nots. The PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X are faster, more powerful variants of now six-year-old consoles that are capable of pushing out more pixels per second than the base machines. While that does mean that some games are rendered at a glorious 4K (sigh..yes, really), …

By Darryn Bonthuys

For as long as WWE wrasslin’ has been an annual fixture in the video game release schedule, one developer has been at the helm of those games. Yuke’s is the name of the studio, and from the sunny shores of Osaka in Japan they’ve been pumping out WWE games at a steady clip that dates back to the early days of when THQ handled the license and through to the modern era that is currently under the stewardship of 2K Games. Well they were, until this week when the studio announced that they’d been future endeavoured.
