Yakuza: Like a Dragon’s switch to turn-based RPG combat and team-based tactics may bite off more than it can chew thanks to terrible difficulty spikes and ill-defined character progression, but it’s still a breath of fresh air for the series. Ichiban Kasuga and his pals are an entertaining lot, the game has plenty of style, and even though the combat devolves into an ungodly grind, it’s a flashy new start to one of Sega’s best franchises.

XIII developer and publisher apologise for the awful state of the remake

By Darryn Bonthuys

Sandwiched between the launch of two next-gen consoles, and roughly 73 trillion games, the remake of cult classic cel-shaded shooter XIII probably flew under your radar. That’s not to say that the game didn’t have fans, but those people who decided to slap down some cash for nostalgia? There are still those who are willing to get up at the crack of dusk and boot up their console to find him for you. People who’ll risk digital life and limb to let you know if Xur is selling a treasure or rubbish. I just so happen to be one of those people. Maybe you’re stuck at work and can only log in later tonight. In that case: Where is Xur?

New year, new Destiny 2 expansion, same old trouble. Over on Europa, the Fallen are up to badness and it’s up to Guardians to once again sort them out. Previous Fallen public events in Destiny 2 have either been a rush to stop Vandals from making off with Glimmer or a showdown with a freakin’ tank, but the Europa event that you can take part in is even deadlier.

For Microsoft, the launch of the new Xboxes has been a feather in its cap as Xboss Phil Spencer revealed on Twitter that “more Xbox consoles had been sold, in more countries, than ever before” this week. Spencer’s definitely right about the number of countries that got their hands on the chunky unit: A grand total of 37 including us here in sunny South Africa were launch day ready, which is a heck of a lot better than the paltry 13 regions that the Xbox One rolled out in back in ye older gaming days.

Verily! The lands of ye olde England is home to some fantastic beasts and danger, but there’s one other Nordic influence to be felt in those lands: The Thunder god’s leftover gear. If you’re looking to call down lightning and wield the Odinson’s fabled hammer, you’re in for a heck of a quest in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It’s impossible, but it’s lengthy as heck and is reserved for endgame content. Here’s how you can get Thor’s hammer and armour.
