Seth MacFarlane will host the 2013 Oscars

Hosting the Oscars is no easy gig, and it has seen it’s fair share of people come and go. Billy Crystal has been a noticeable host who helmed the annual back-patting and awards show for several years, while other performers such as Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, Jon Stewart and Hugh Jackman made an otherwise boring night, fantastic.

And next year, we’ll see the voice of a foul-mouthed teddy bear, mentally retarded parent, zealous patriot and frequent parody of Darth Sidious himself take the stage, when Seth MacFarlane hosts the 2013 Oscars.

Taking place next year on February 24, the 85th Annual Academy Awards will be produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who had this to say about their official host:

We are thrilled to have Seth MacFarlane host the Oscars. His performing skills blend perfectly with our ideas for making the show entertaining and fresh. He will be the consummate host, and we are so happy to be working with him.

Despite earning rave reviews and a stack ‘o cash for his directorial debut, not many people know the face of MacFarlane, but his voice has been behind a camera and in a recording booth for most of his career.
It’s going to be interesting to see how MacFarlane handles being in front of a camera for once, but I’m looking forward to it. The Oscars can be bland and boring without a great host, and the last time it was truly entertaining, was when Chris Rock managed to get himself crossed off of Jude Laws Christmas list.

So, what do you think about MacFarlane hosting the event? Yay or nay for the funny voice-man?

Something wrong gentlemen? You come here prepared to read the words of a madman, and instead found a lunatic obsessed with comics, Batman and Raul Julia's M Bison performance in the 1994 Street Fighter movie? Fine! Keep your bio! In fact, now might be a good time to pray to it!
