God of War: Ascension is out locally today, and we thought it was pretty excellent. for the first time, the series features that back-of-the-box bulletpoint multiplayer – but we’re happy to say it’s not some needlessly tacked-on nonsense; it’s actually well fleshed out. Sony will, of course, be supporting that multiplayer through some extensive DLC.

"We put a great deal of thought and effort into the multiplayer modes you’ll discover in Ascension,“ said Sony Santa Monica’s Todd Papy on the PlayStation Blog.

"Supporting this new addition to the God of War universe and the community we’re hopeful builds around it for a while to come is of the utmost importance to us.

"To that end, we can today confirm a substantial DLC plan, among which will be new armour and weapons sets, new stages to battle in, and much more.

thankfully, for the true God of War aficionado, this DLC will all come free, as you’ve no doubt opted to get the game’s collector’s edition – which includes a DLC Season Pass. Surprisingly, that Season Pass will not be available for standalone purchase, so you’ll have to pick it all up piecemeal if you’re sitting with the vanilla version on your desk right now.

"All of this will be free for owners of the Ascension Collector’s Edition, since it includes a comprehensive Season Pass (which will not be available outside of the CE).

"We’ll have plenty more info in the coming weeks as we execute on our extensive schedule."

I got the God of War box with controller today. The controller is a beauty so am glad I got that. But the strange thing is I’m more excited about the Last of Us demo on the game disc than the game itself!

Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s going to be great but I’m very curious about the Last of Us as I don’t usually like zombie games but hell its by Naughty Dog.
