Floyd Mayweather to Pacman:''Let's fight!''He must have it confused with Tekken.

Street Fighter X Tekken is a masterpiece of the fighting game genre. It’s a game for fans and connoisseurs, a title filled with ideas and challenges, while bridging two iconic worlds. But it’s only half of the crossover equation. Capcom managed to throw down the gauntlet and create something fun and memorable, leaving Namco to find a way to incorporate the icons of Street Fighter into the world of Tekken.

And they just might be doing it quite soon.

Producer Katsuhiro Harada spoke to Eurogamer recently, confirming that the Namco entry in the fighting game team-up would indeed arrive on current-gen consoles. Eventually. “There’s still a large number of players out there with a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 who are looking forward to the game,” Harada said.

So we feel it’s probably more relevant to get the title out to them on the current hardware.

As for the game being a current-gen only affair, Harada isn’t too hung up on that idea, as he hems and haws over it. “We’re not completely sure, but that’s the direction at this moment,” Harada said.

Tekken X Street Fighter still has a few hurdles to hop over before we get to play it though, chief among them being the fact that full production on the game has yet to commence. And with everyone expecting next-gen consoles to be revealed next year, that gives Harada and Namco around another year or two to get their butts into gear, and show us how Ryu’s Idlikesomepoundcake attack looks in 3D.
