It’s hard not to know who Freddy Krueger is, a character whose multiple trademark design ideas have gelled together to form a monster with an unmistakeable presence. That sneering smile, the striped jersey and a clawed glove that was designed to maim, not kill. That’s the Freddy Krueger that audiences are more than familiar with. In Injustice 2, there are at least two nods to Elm Street. One is in the Scarecrow’s gear, an obvious reference to the Fredora worn by the Springwood Slasher. The other? It's an Easter egg that only Fred-Heads wouldpick up on.

In 2005, A Nightmare on Elm Street: Real Nightmares was set to air. Englund would have hosted the series, which would have starred real people attempting to conquer their nightmares by being exposed to their deepest fears. If it sounds similar to that other show about phobias, Fear Factor, then you’re in the exact same frame of mind as the network CBS was when they cancelled the Freddy series after a mere four episodes.
