In a blog post announcing his latest departure, now former Bioware studio general manager and Mass Effect series architect Casey Hudson wrote about how the time was right to hand the reigns over to a younger generation of developers.

Don’t get any ideas though, it’s apparently still in “early development”.

If the Bioware from a decade ago managed to nail time travel, hopped into the hot tub time machine and jumped forward a few years, they’d probably be horrified by the future that awaited them. Once the leading name in character-driven adventure games, the Bioware of today isn’t exactly setting the house on fire with its latest offerings.

Clocking in a couple of weeks ahead of schedule, EA’s upcoming loot ‘n shoot experience is just about finished over at Bioware studios. A long road has come to an end, albeit one that will now see the studio focusing on polish, squashing out bugs and checking its inconveniently oversized roadmap for the next route to take when Anthem goes live on February 22

Despite Anthem being just around the corner, BioWare says you should expect an update on the state of Dragon Age as early as next month.

BioWare General Manager Casey Hudosn says that the cries for more entries in the Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Old Republic universes aren't falling on deaf ears, and that the studio is cooking up something in the more traditional RPG space.

In the wake of Mass Effect Andromeda's negative reception and the reveal of Anthem, BioWare has shaken up management by bringing back a popular name from the Mass Effect 3 era.
