Local co-op and couch gaming are largely dead; a relic of the past because – certain party games excluded - it’s so seldom that people invite friends over to play video games. Instead, people now play video games with their friend over the internet. It’s a pity, not just because sitting with friends on a couch and playing video games together or against each other is awesome, but because there are so many games that don’t have online multiplayer support; games that would be better if played with others.

Project Resistance may be aimed at a multiplayer crowd, but it'll have plety of meat on its bones with an offline narrative mode, multiple characters and more.

Capcom’s been on a hell of a roll so far, but a co-op shooter with asymmetrical gameplay elements seems to be step back. Not so, says Project Resistance producer Matt Walker! It may be a co-op game in what is becoming a very crowded genre as of late, but games such as Project Resistance are necessary for Capcom’s portfolio to be more diverse.

After a pair of games starring BJ Blazcowicz earning a reputation amongst history’s jack-booted thugs as “Terror Billy”, it’s time for a passing of the torch. Wolfenstein: Youngblood looks set to take the more sombre and introspective tone of the previous games and blow them sky-high with a pair of siblings who happen to have inherited their dad’s talent for death and mayhem. An approach that has resulted in MachineGames taking a more open-ended approach to leverage the co-op gameplay that drives this sequel forward.

While Gears 5 did get a reveal at last year’s E3, Coalition has been mum on details since then, keeping fans in the dark regarding the story of the sequel and where new character Kait’s story will take her next. At its best, Strange Brigade is a solid time-killer with plenty of class and brass to its name that is best enjoyed with a few fellow adventurers at your side. Hit or miss gunplay hobbles the experience, but at least it has plenty of charm and style to make up for its more glaring faults.
